What the site is

Star Costumes is an editorial resource with costume ideas, DIY builds and costume history. It has no shop, takes no payments and has no user accounts. Read more on the about page.

Privacy policy

What is collected. The site does not ask for names, emails or any other personal details, and it has no sign-up or comment forms. The costume idea finder runs entirely in your browser: the choices you make are not sent anywhere.

Logs and statistics. Like any website, the server records technical request data such as the page requested, the time and the browser type, and this is used to keep the site running and to understand which guides are read. Visit statistics, where used, are aggregate counts and do not use advertising cookies or follow people from site to site.

Cookies and local storage. The site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. The seasonal decorations are switched on by the date in your own browser, and nothing about that choice is sent to the server.

Sharing. Visitor data is not sold or rented. It is shared only with the hosting and infrastructure providers needed to deliver the pages, or where the law requires it.

Children. The site is written to be suitable for all ages, but it is not directed at collecting information from children, and it does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

Your requests. To ask what, if anything, is held about you, or to ask for it to be removed, write to the address above.

Using the guides

Safety. The guides give general information for making and wearing costumes. Every project involves tools, materials or heat, so use judgment, supervise children, follow the instructions that come with any product you use, and stop if something is unsafe or causes discomfort. Read the costume safety guide before starting a build. The publisher is not responsible for injury or damage from following an idea on the site.

Accuracy. Guides are researched against published sources, but details such as dates and materials can change or contain mistakes. If you spot one, write to the address above.

Trademarks and characters. Names of films, characters and brands are used only to describe home-made inspiration. Nothing on the site is official, licensed or endorsed by the owners of those names, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.

Images. Illustrations on the site were created for it, most of them with AI image tools. The rotating prop photos in the pirate section are rendered from 3D scans. Images show ideas, not finished products you can order.

Links to other sites. A few pages link to outside sites. The publisher does not control them and is not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Copyright. The text and images on Star Costumes are protected by copyright. You may quote short passages with a link back to the page. Please ask before copying whole guides or images.

Changes

This page may be updated when the site or the law changes. The current version is always the one at this address.
