A
Wonder Woman costume is one of those outfits that are easily recognizable at
Halloween parties. The red bustier, the blue, star-spangled bottom and the
lasso need no introduction, even to those who are not rabid comic book fans. Great
thing about this is that you don’t need to do much to create the costume, and
you don’t have to spend so much either.
A
Wonder Woman costume is the perfect outfit for brunette girls with curvy
bodies. But even if you have a different hair color and your body is not so
perfect, you can still don this outfit and pull it off with well.
Things
you will need:
- Blue gym
shorts or boyleg shorts
- Red bustier or
red tank top
- Flesh-colored
pantyhose
- Gold tape
- White tape
- Gold wrapper
- Cardboard
- Red knee-high
boots
- Red shiny
cloth for cape
- Yellow plastic
rope
Step 1: Wonder Woman
wears a shiny red bustier which makes her awesome body stand out. Normally, you
won’t have any trouble finding a red bustier at lingerie shops. Find one in the
shiniest fabric you can find. Decorate the top part of the bustier using gold
tape. The design only requires thin strips of gold across the chest, so you
won’t have any problem designing with the gold tape.
In
case you can’t find a red bustier or you think you are not daring enough to
wear one outdoors, you can use a tight-fitting red tube top as an alternative.
Make sure to get one in shiny red fabric.
Step 2: This superhero
wears a fairly skimpy blue star-spangled bottom. You can create this by buying blue gym shorts
or boyleg shorts, then decorating it with white stars cut from white tape or
stickers. You only need to draw the stars on the sticker and cut them to be put
on the shorts.
Step 3: Now for the
accessories. You can easily create Wonder Woman’s belt, tiara and armbands
using cardboard and gold wrapper. Download a picture of Wonder Woman and take a
look at what her accessories look like.
You
can draw the patterns on flexible cardboard, cut them out and cover them with
gold wrapper. The gold belt should be wide and make your waist look smaller.
The gold arm bands should cover the wrist and extend almost to near the elbows.
The gold tiara should fit the upper part
of your forehead.
Step 4: Red, knee-high
boots are a must if you want to perfect the Wonder Woman look. If you don’t
have one yet, you can buy a pair from thrift stores. If you can’t find a red
pair, you can buy a white one instead and spray paint it red. Use white tape to
encircle the top edge of the boots. Then tape the front part of the boots, from
the top all the way down to the tips.
Step 5: Since this is a
skimpy outfit, you might be more comfortable wearing flesh-colored pantyhose
over your bare legs. Wonder Woman is a brunette, so if you have a different
hair color, rent a dark black wig with wavy locks. Makeup is minimal, but don’t
forget to wear bright red lipstick.
Step 6: Complete the look
by carrying a yellow plastic lasso with you. You can buy a jump rope from a toy
store and spray paint it yellow.
And don't forget, Star Costumes has tons of great
superhero
costumes if you want to go as someone else.
