Make Your Own Two-Face Costume

The Batman certainly has the most interesting villains, and one of them is Two-Face. The handsome, mild-mannered District Attorney named Harvey Dent transformed as the gruesome-looking Two-Face when he got into a freak accident which ruined half of his face. As you can imagine, this costume can be a bit hard to make, but this is definitely worth pulling off if you have the time and patience to spare. If you have a friend who will dress up as Batman, tag along his side for that perfect hero and villain effect.

Things you will need:

  • Two used suits in two entirely different designs
  • White dress shirt
  • Striped tie
  • A pair of mismatched socks
  • A pair of mismatched shoes
  • Hair gel, hair spray
  • Scar kits or latex zombie kits
  • Coin, one side scratched and marked with an X

Step 1: Two-Face does not wear an ordinary suit. His suit looks like two different ones sewn together, which is precisely what you have to do to make this costume. The most practical thing to do is to look for used suits in your house which you can cut up and combine. This should be easy, if you don’t have those suits, your father or grandfather probably has old ones lying around in their closets. Make sure that these two suites look very different from one another. Choose a plain, dark-colored suit and a printed one.

Cut these suits in half and sew them together. This can be quite tricky if you don’t really know how to sew, so you might want to have this done by a professional tailor. The suit should fit perfectly especially around the crotch area.

Step 2: Wear a plain white shirt underneath the suit. Ideally, Two-Face’s shirt should look like two halves sewn together, but since the suit is colorful and noticeable enough, a plain white shirt will suffice. This will save you the trouble of cutting up two shirts and sewing the two different halves together.

Step 3: As for the shoes, each piece should complement the suit that it is worn with. If you are wearing a dark suit on your left side, you should wear a shoe that will match it. Same goes for the other side. For instance, you can wear classic black dress shoes on the left then wear a brown one on the right side. Socks should complement the color of their respective shoes.

Step 4: The most difficult part of the getup is the makeup. Because of the freak accident, half of Two-Face’s face became horribly disfigured. You can achieve the same effect by buying one of those scar kits or latex zombie kits. Unless you know prosthetics, this is the best way to get that acid-burned look. All you have to do is apply the kit to just one side of your face.

Step 5: Two-Face’s hair should look as split as his face and personality. The hair on his good side should be neatly combed back. Apply some hair gel to make it look as slick as possible. The hair on the bad should look wild and unruly. Tousle it and make it totally messy, then use some hair spray for extra hold.

Step 6: Don’t forget Two-Face’s ever present coin. Scratch the tails side and put an X mark on it. Always carry it around with you while you’re at the party.
