If you plan to dress up as an adorable fairy for your
Halloween party, then consider going as Tinkerbell. The sparkly, sassy sidekick
of Peter Pan is an excellent choice for those who want a pretty look for
Halloween. The costume may look costly and complicated at first, but it is
actually easy to put together.
Things you will need:
Step 1: The
primary piece of the costume is the green dress, which ideally should be very
short and strapless. Find one in the loveliest shade of iridescent light green.
If you can’t find a strapless one, you can simply cut off the sleeves. The
hemline should have a jagged or frayed edge, which you can create by ripping or
cutting off an inch or two.
Step 2: Since the
dress is so short, you might want to cover your legs. Wearing a pair of tights
is a good option. Choose a pair in skin-tone or white to make it look as
natural as possible, since Tinkerbell does not really wear tights.
Step 3: The wings
are an important part of the ensemble. You can create your own set of wings
using wire and flimsy fabric, but it's better to just buy a pair instead since
fairy wings are considerably inexpensive. Make sure to use fairy wings that do
not look like butterfly wings.
Step 4: Tinkerbell's
shoes should match her dress, so you have to get green ballerina flats with
pom-poms on them. If you can't find them, any green ballet flats will do and
you can just attach the pom-poms yourself using hot glue.
Step 5:
Tinkerbell should glitter from head to foot. Achieve this sparkly look by
spraying the dress, wings and shoes with silver glitter spray. Make sure to
even out the glitter properly, and be careful with the glitter spray - a little
can go a long way. If you use too much, you may have a hard time removing the
glitter after the party.
Step 6: A fairy
is useless without her wand, so get one that will suit your outfit. Just like
the wings, you will have no trouble finding a good-looking but inexpensive
wand. You can customize it by adding gemstones and glitter.
Step 7: Hair and
makeup should look very pretty. If you have blond hair, you only need to tie it
up or twist into a bun. If you have darker locks, try getting a wig. Makeup
consists of dark lashes, light pink blush and light pink lipstick. Put on face
glitter to achieve that luminous look. You can also try putting on green
eyeshadow for a more dramatic effect.
Step 8: Buy a
small bag of fairy dust which you will bring with you to the party. Sprinkle
dust on people that you will bump into (just don't overdo it).
