No anime fan is worth his or her salt if they don't know who
or what Sailor Moon is. The girl named Usagi Tsukino is one of the most popular
female anime characters. She also belongs to a group of teenage schoolgirls who
battle to save mankind from evil.
Her schoolgirl costume is both cute and naughty, mostly
because of the short, short skirt. So if you don’t mind showing lots of leg and
wearing pigtails, then we'll show you how to make your own Sailor Moon costume.
Things you will need:

or bodysuit
- Navy blue schoolgirl

Step 1: Start
creating the outfit by getting hold of a plain white sleeveless unitard or
bodysuit. Create a sailor collar for it by cutting a pattern from blue fabric
and sewing it to the neck part of the white top.
Step 2: Create a
big bow out of bright red ribbon and attach it to the sailor collar, on the
chest part. You can use glue for this, or you can sew it in place. Create
another bow and attach it to the lower back part of the unitard, where it will
connect with the skirt.
Step 3: Look for
a schoolgirl skirt, the shortest one you can actually wear. The skirt should be
navy blue, pleated and should NOT go past your mid-thighs.
Step 4: Now that
you have the uniform, it is time to accessorize. Sailor Moon wears a gold
locket around her neck. You can get this locket from toy stores or costume
shops. Attach the locket to the center of the bow on your collar.
Step 5: Put on
white elbow-length gloves and wear red wristbands over them. Complete the
outfit with red-knee high boots, which you can find at surplus or second-hand
stores. If you can't find red ones, you can get a white pair and just spray
paint them red.
The top of Sailor Moon's boots have small, crescent moon
designs on them. You can create this by putting crescent-shaped stickers on the
top of each boot, or draw them using paint and a small brush.
Step 6: Now for
the hair. Sailor Moon has long blond hair, which she wears in buns and
pigtails. You can style your hair yourself, provided you have blond hair that
is long enough. If you don't, then consider getting a long blond wig instead.
The easiest way to
create the hairstyle is to let a stylist fix the wig for you. Just show a
picture of Sailor Moon's hair and the stylist will know what to do with it. Make
sure to secure the end of each pigtail with red ribbons.
Step 7: Sailor
Moon wears a gold tiara on her blond hair. There's no need to buy or borrow a
real tiara. You can get a costume one from costume shops and toy stores.
