Just like some of the most memorable heroines in history,
Princess Leia had worn several outfits that people will always remember. An
example is the metal bikini that she was wearing while she was a prisoner of
Jabba the Hutt. Since she first appeared onscreen clad in the scanty bikini,
ladies (and some men) have worn this unforgettable outfit to costume parties.
The bikini outfit is actually not hard to make, and if you
have the courage (and the body) to wear this revealing costume, here’s what you
need to do:
Things you will need:
- Thick wire (Wonderflex
works well)
- Model magic clay
- Gold spray paint or gold
craft paint
- Glue
- Needle and thread
- Brown suede boots
- Red fabric
- Thick pair of panties
- Clips and bobby pins
Step 1: Download
a picture of the Princess Leia slave costume so you will have an idea of how it
looks like from all angles. This is necessary in order for you to get the right
look of the outfit.
Now get the thick wire (Wonderflex works great) and mold it
around your chest area and around your hips. The wires should go around your
breasts and neck, just like a bikini.
Step 2: To make
this easy for you, ask someone to help you mold the wire around your body. Ask
your companion to create a hook-and-eye behind the neck, which will secure your
“top”. The bottom piece of the bikini
should be connected at the back also.
Step 3: Create
the cups of your bikini top by molding the Model Magic Clay around the wire.
Put gold paint in the cups afterwards. Create the gold designs for your boots
using the Model Magic Clay. Attach the designs to the boots using strong glue.
For embellishments on the boots, you can create them using wire. You have to
sew those into the boots since you can't attach them using glue.
Step 4: Princess
Leia's front and buttocks are covered by two long strips of red fabric. Use a
tape measure to make sure that the strips of cloth will adequately cover the
front and back of your bottom. Eight to ten inches is usually wide enough to
cover the area. It should hang a few inches above the floor.
The strips of fabric should be sewn into the bikini bottom.
The panties should be attached to the wire piece using glue.
Step 5: The
costume has front and back plates for the bottom. This can be made using Model
Magic. Mount the Model Magic on more wires or cardboard then attach to the
bikini bottoms.
Step 6: Complete
the outfit by creating arm cuff and headpiece. Use wire to form the arm cuff, and
then paint it gold. The headpiece can be created using Model Magic, which you
should mold on a piece of cardboard. This can be attached to your head using
clips or bobby pins.
Step 7: Hair and
makeup is easy to create. Smoky shadows for eyes and a single braid for the
hair should complete your Princess Leia costume.
