Women love to dress up like Morticia Adams because she is
one of the sexiest Halloween characters ever. This classic look is not hard to
pull off and will definitely make you look glamorous for Halloween. If you
don’t like wearing messy or complicated zombie costumes and you don't mind
showing some curves, then you should definitely try the Morticia Adams costume.
Things you will need:
- A long black dress
- Black lace
- White face makeup, dark
red lipstick, black mascara, eyeliner and eyebrow pencil
- Corset or body shaper
- Beaded necklace
- Black high heels
- Long black
costume wig, such as a witch
wig
Step 1: Start
with finding a long black dress that is very form-fitting. You will find no
trouble finding the perfect black dress at department stores or even thrift
shops. If you can find one in velvet, even better. The dress should be long
enough to go past your feet to the floor. If you can't find a dress with this
length, buy extra black fabric.
Step 2: Ideally,
the dress should be tight at the waist and hips, then flared at the sleeves and
hem. Morticia's dress has jagged spikes at the hem. Use the black fabric to
lengthen the dress. Cut the fabric into v-shaped
patterns before attaching it to the hem of the dress using a sewing machine or
hot glue. You can also hand-sew the fabric to the hem.
Step 3: if the
sleeves of the dress are not flared, use black lace with intricate patterns to
cover the arms. Measure your arm to achieve the right tightness of the sleeve.
Sew lace into both sleeves and make sure that it will flare past the arms.
Step 4:
Morticia's dress should be low-cut, so if your dress is not low enough, cut the
front to get the right plunge.
Step 5: Before
wearing the dress, you might consider using a corset underneath. Morticia is
famous for her sleek curves, so you must try to achieve the same effect.
Step 6: Now for
the hair. If you already have long, black hair, all you have to do is wear it
very straight down your shoulders. If your hair is not straight enough, use a
straightening hair iron to tame tresses. If you don't have black hair, wear a
black wig.
Step 7: To
achieve Morticia's pale complexion, put white makeup on your face. Better yet,
wear makeup with gray undertones, if you can find it. If you don't mind
shelling some extra bucks, you can buy the white cream makeup that stores
usually sell during Halloween.
Step 8: Go for
absolute drama on the eyes. Wear heavy black mascara, or you can use false
eyelashes. Put black eyeliner on the bottom and top eyelids. Accentuate the
eyes even more by putting gray eye shadow and extend it all the way to the
eyebrow. Brows should be strongly arched, which you can create by using black
eyebrow pencil.
Step 9: Put on
bright red lipstick and the beaded necklace. Complete the look with black high
heels.
