The
Mad Hatter is one of those children’s story characters that need no
introduction. Definitely the quirkiest
character in
in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter is a striking vision in colorful bowtie and
bright orange hair. Now that
in Wonderland has become a hit movie, more guys will definitely go as the Mad
Hatter in Halloween parties. You can copy the costume worn by Johnny Depp in
the movie, which is darker, if not a more interesting version of the storybook
Mad Hatter. You need some patience and attention to detail to pull this off.

Step 1: Gathering stuff
for the Mad Hatter costume is not so difficult, since almost all items can be
found in thrift stores or in your own closet.
You can raid your father's or grandfather's closets for an old suit and
top hat. The only catch is that they have to be colorful. The Mad Hatter's
costume is very striking, and plain colored items simply will not do.
Step 2: You will have no trouble dressing up for the
party as soon as you have gathered all the required items, but you will have to
work on your hair and makeup. Even with the colorful suit, short and bowtie,
the hair and face are still the most striking parts in the Mad Hatter's getup.
Step 3: Let's start with
the face. Apply white face paint all over your face as base. This will make the
rest of the makeup stand out.
Step 4: Put fuchsia
makeup on the undereye area, covering the hollow parts. Apply the makeup on the
lids as well.
Step 5: Put on light
green contact lenses. Get the white mascara and apply a generous coating to
your lashes so it will be very visible. Make sure to put mascara on both upper
and lower lashes.
Step 6: Line your lips
with the pinkish red lip liner then put on the fuchsia pink lipstick. Make sure
your lips will be brightly colored. You can add clear gloss over the lipstick
to make it more noticeable.
Step 7: Get the bright pink
blush and apply generously on your cheeks. Put some on the sides of your nose.
Step 8: For the hair, you
need to find a bright orange wig with curly hair. You can't compromise on this
one, so you better find one and reserve it way before your Halloween party.
Unless you are willing to curl your hair and have it painted orange, having the
wig is a must.
Step 9: The Mad Hatter's hat has a tag with “In this
style 10/6” written on it. This you can create by getting a white rectangular
sticker and writing the label using a black pen. Complete the look by carrying a teacup and
saucer with you to the party.
And
if you're going to the Halloween party with a girl, consider having her go in
our Alice
in Wonderland costume. You'd be quite the madcap pair!
