Say you’re a bodybuilder with lots of muscles to
show off, or a bulky guy who's pushing 60. If you want to make an impression on
your Halloween party without wearing the usual superhero, zombie or vampire
costume, then put on your bandanna and spandex and go as Hulk Hogan. You don't need
to be a wrestling fan to pull this off; any red-blooded American male knows who
the Hulkster is. This costume is perfect for those who have the body to strut
around in spandex.
Things you will need:
- Red bandanna
- Yellow shirt, preferably with the ripped/cutoff sleeves
- Velcro, scissors
- Tie-dyed spandex pants
- Bleach
blond hair color, or get a Hulk
Hogan wig
- Red kneepads
- Old combat boots
- Yellow spray paint
- Yellow wristbands
- Yellow-rimmed sunglasses
- Red
feather boa
- Plastic championship belt
Step 1: The Hulkster has longish hair that is almost
shoulder length. He also has a blond mustache. To look more authentic, you
might want to try growing both weeks before the Halloween party. If you're not
blond, color your hair temporarily with some bleach blond hair color. Get one
that washes off easily in the shower.
Step 2: Your clothes will be a striking mix of red and
yellow. Get an old yellow shirt and rip off the sleeves for that tough biker
look. Or you can simply buy a cheap yellow sleeveless shirt.
Step 3: Hulk Hogan is known for ripping his shirt off
whenever he's in the ring. You don't have to rip a whole shirt to seams. What
you just have to do is to cut the shirt down in the middle and put Velcro on
either side. This will make it easier for you to “rip” the shirt during the
party. The Velcro will also ensure that you can put the shirt back on together
so that you still have something to wear for the rest of the night.
Step 4: You HAVE to wear tie-dyed pants, no ifs and or
buts about it (okay, maybe you can settle for the yellow speedo). The Hulkster
is known for his outrageous spandex pants. If you can't find a red and yellow
tie-dyed spandex pants, simple buy a white one and tie-dye it yourself with red
and yellow die. You can download simple instructions on the net about the right
way to tie-dye fabric.
Step 5: If you want to go all out, you can purchase
some mean, kick-ass yellow boots with flames painted on them. If you'd rather
not spend much on shoes, then you can simply buy a pair of old combat boots
from thrift stores or Army surplus stores and spray paint them yellow. Don't
paint the laces though, those should remain white.
Step 6: After you're done making and putting on the
clothes and shoes, it's time to wear the important accessories. Put on the red
bandanna on your head. Slip on the yellow wristbands and put on the red
kneepads. Wear the yellow-rimmed sunglasses. To complete the outfit, put the
foam and plastic championship belt around your waist, which you can order from
specialty stores or from the WWE website.
