If you want to come to your costume party as a villain and
you want to be a showstopper, then a Cruella Deville outfit is one of your best
bets. The striking black and white getup worn by one of Disney’s most nasty villainesses
will definitely get attention as soon as you enter a room.
Everything about Cruella Deville screams nastiness, from her
half-black, half-white hair to the slim cigarette holder dangling from her
blood red lips. There is an easy way to create this costume, but please, think
of the puppies and don't use any Dalmatians!
Things you will need:
Step 1: Start
creating the outfit by finding an all-black ensemble. A long, black evening
dress, black pantyhose, and black high-heeled shoes are necessary pieces of the
costume. If you can find a retro-style dress and shoes, that's even better.
Step 2: Now for
the best part of the costume. Cruelled Deville's fur coat signifies her
obsession for acquiring Dalmatian skin. You need to make a fur stole using
white faux fur. Fold the fur in half lengthwise, right side in, and sew up on
one short side and along the long side. Afterwards, turn the right side of the
stole out and fold underneath. Stitch the remaining edges tightly.
Put eye-catching Dalmatian spots on the fur stole by using a
round stamp and black paint. Make sure to apply the spots in random fashion on
the front part of the fur stole. Let it dry thoroughly then do the same to the
underside of the coat.
To make the coat look even more striking, you can sew red
faux fur on the edges of the coat. The red will provide a very dramatic
contrast to the black and white outfit.
Step 3: Cruella Deville's fascination for black and
white shows in her hair. Her wacky, half-black, half-white hairstyle is a sight
to behold. If your hair is short enough, you can do this hairstyle yourself by
parting your hair in half and coloring one side black and the other one in
white. This should not be a problem if you use temporary hair color, which
should wash off easily in the shower.
If you don't feel like messing with your hair with some
wacky dye job, then you can buy a white wig instead and dye half of it black.
You can ask help from a stylist to make sure you get the look right.
Step 4: Complete the outfit with the necessary
accessories. You need to wear ruby red elbow-length gloves. Then wear lipstick
with the same shade of red. Lastly, carry a long cigarette holder with you to
the party and puff on it as you enter the room.
If you want your outfit to look more believable, bring a
stuffed toy Dalmatian. You could borrow a real puppy from a friend, too – just
make sure to take care of it.
