If
you want to look regal and sexy at the same time this Halloween, you should try
to dress up as Cleopatra. The most famous Egyptian royalty in the world dons
beautiful gowns and jewelry that captivated all those who have seen her.
Dressing up as Cleopatra is possible even if you don’t have her spectacular
gold jewelry and accessories. You can just improvise and still look as regal as
the Queen of theNile.
Cleopatra
has many outfits, but one of the most recognizable is the classic white and
gold number. If you’re going to the costume party with your boyfriend or guy
friend, you can have him dress up as Mark Anthony, one of Cleopatra’s lovers.
This should complement your getup beautifully.
Things
you will need:
- White
tunic
- Gold
armbands
- Gold
tone wrist cuffs
- Cardboard
- Gold-colored
paper
- Fake
gems or turquoise-colored ribbons
- Toy
rubber snake
- Open-toe
sandals in neutral color
- Heavy
black eyeliner or kohl eyeliner
Step
1: Buy a white tunic that is fitted in the chest area and flowing below the
waist area. This tunic should be flattering to all body types, so you don’t
have to worry if your curves are less than perfect.
Step
2: The usual Egyptian outfit is adorned with gold and blue/turquoise
accessories, so expect the Queen of the
to be decked out in the most fabulous jewels. No one expects you to show up
wearing priceless jewels so you can just improvise. To create the neckpiece and
head gear, you will need cardboard and blue/turquoise colored ribbons.
Draw
a circular pattern on the cardboard and cut it out. Cut a hole in the middle of
the circle, making sure that it is big enough to fit around your neck. Paste
gold-colored paper above the pattern. Then cut out small, square shapes from
the blue/turquoise ribbons and paste them on the circular cutout. You can use
glue gun for this. Make sure those squares are aligned properly and pasted
neatly on the neck piece. For a more luxurious look, you can use fake gems to
adorn the neck piece.
Step
3: You can do the same for the gold belt, which will accentuate your tunic. Cut
a wide strap long enough to fit around your waist. Or you can simply buy a gold
belt or gold sash. A vertical band or sash should hang down from the center of
your waist down to your knees.
Step
4: The head gear is just a simple gold band around your head with a snake head
design attached in the center. Again, you can use cardboard and gold paper to
create this. If you can find a toy rubber snake, you can just cut off the head
and attach it to the center of the head piece.
Step
5: Use the same snake head design that you created from cardboard and put them
on one of the gold bands that you will wear around your arm. Create wrist cuffs
also by using cardboard and gold paper.
Step
6: The white and gold outfit will be
balanced by a pair of simple, nude-colored flat sandals. Even the plainest ones
will do, especially if your tunic is long enough to cover most of your legs.
Step
7: Hair and makeup should be classic Egyptian style. This means dramatic eyes
played up with heavy black kohl eyeliner, black mascara and prominent brows. Straight,
jet black hair is a must, so if you have a different hair color, you have to
rent a wig or dye your hair black temporarily.
