Make Your Own Catwoman Costume

No Halloween party is complete without someone dressing up as Catwoman. The lethally sexy Catwoman is one of the most popular female villains around and one of Batman’s regular foes. If you are confident enough to don her sleek, skintight catsuit, you can easily make one without spending too much money.

There are several versions of Catwoman, but Michelle Pfeiffer’s vinyl-clad seductress remains the most popular of all. If can’t afford to make a vinyl catsuit, you can still capture the look by making some improvisations. You can watch the movie Batman Returns to have an idea of what her catsuit looks like.

Things you will need:

  • Black cloth and pattern for the mask/hood
  • Black leggings and black, long sleeved leotard
  • Black gloves
  • Black boots
  • Black belt
  • An old jump rope and black spray paint for the whip
  • Dark red lipstick, dark eyeshadow and black mascara

Step 1: Catwoman’s hood is probably the most difficult piece to make in the entire costume. Luckily for you, you can avail of patterns for the hood from specialty stores or you can download them from the internet. All you have to do is trace the pattern on a firm, leather-like black cloth material, cut it up and sew together. This pattern should include the kitty ears. If you want to copy Michelle Pfeiffer's hood, you can deck the entire thing with stitches.

Step 2: If you don't want to rent or buy a catsuit, you can make do with black, long-sleeved leotards and a pair of black leggings. To make it look like a catsuit, you can sew the bottom part of the leotard with the top part of the leggings. Just like with the hood, you can put irregular stitches all over the catsuit to make it look like the one in the movie.

Step 3: Accentuate your waist by wearing a wide black belt on top of your catsuit. This should come in handy for those who are not so confident of their stomach area and would like to hide a slight paunch.

Step 4: Catwoman's hands are never exposed so you should wear a pair of black gloves, preferably leather. There should be no exposed skin between the gloves and your sleeves, so make sure you get a pair that is long enough.

Step 5:  Black , high-heeled boots are essential to the Catwoman outfit. Try to find one made of shiny or glossy material. Knee-high boots are the ideal, but you can also go for thigh-high boots as well.

Step 6: Catwoman's primary weapon is her whip. If you don't have one lying around in your house, you can just take an old jump rope and chop off one of the handles. Fray the end so it will look like a real whip then spray the entire thing with black paint.

Step 7: You don't have to worry about your hair since you will be wearing your hood, but you have to put some makeup on. Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman has her trademark red lips, which contrasts brightly against the shiny material of her hood. Put smoky eye makeup and load up on mascara and black eyeliner.

And don't forget, Star Costumes has tons of great superhero costumes if you want to go as someone else.ngne yourself using easurements, then you can of the same style. If you canto pull it off. If you are up to the challe
