Even though plus size is gaining acceptance, it still clashes with the prevalent idea that thinness is desirable. The billboard aren’t all going to be replaced with plus size models anytime soon, and being overweight still carries stigma in our society. Some reject the concept of plus size solely on the grounds of superficiality and our culture has reinforced certain ideas about attractiveness that are ingrained in us throughout our lives wherever we go.

wow is all I can say and thanks for being included in such a fantastic list! It has indeed been a labor of love for me since the beginning.

As to the comment above it is because of the stigma that blogs like the one on this list were created in the first place. Plus size women and big and tall men should not be sequestered to a corner but treated like everyone else especially when it comes to shopping for something as basic as clothes. While we languish in superficial notions of beauty our culture will be left in the dark ages when it comes to acceptance and tolerance.

My goodness! I’m flattered beyond words to see Perfectly Shaped World included in such distinguished company.

Amen, Glen. You’ve definitely said it better than I could ever. Size acceptance will move forward, but it will move forward so much more gracefully if we all put our shoulder into the task.

Kyle, would love to see you joining the newly moved Plus Size 411 directory when I get the directory code finalized. Please consider this an open-ended invitation. (http://www.plussize411.com – hopefully all fixed up by Friday!)
